A+A Diagrams

My first assignment this semester was to diagram the Art and Architecture building. Bruce McCarty designed the space and the building was completed in 1981. The building is essentially two buildings connected by a set of stairs in the middle and a walk way surrounding the center. A comparable design (and inspiration) would be the Pompidou Centre in France.  Both show the structure of the building, but support certain qualities. Click – A+A Building – to view pictures.

We created to create several diagrams from a list, but also to explore diagrams we thought would be informative. Several of the diagrams I did were privacy, circulation, and hierarchy (all within the A+A building). The diagrams can be found Here, or under Spring 2010 as “Art and Architecture Building Diagrams”. Enjoy!
